Seriously, if your high heels “kill” your feet - don’t fucking wear them! There’s nothing worse than a woman hobbling around in heels that are too tall, too wobbly, or just too painful.
This reminded me of a song Kat Edmonson sang last night with the lyric, “I’ll go through life/wearing entirely sensible shoes…”
“La Marcha Tropical” - CAMPO
I just heard this song on my favorite weekly radio show, Horizontes, and I loved it at first listen.
From the Soundcloud track description:
It’s noteworthy to mention that uber young Swedish singer Ellen Arkbro doesn’t speak a word of Spanish. It was during the recording sessions for La Marcha Tropical that she learned how to convey her lines through both phonetics and by asking what her words meant and trying to relate.

Lyrics to one of my favourite hymns. ‘It is Well’ by Horatio Spafford.
This hymn has nice harmonies, but we don’t sing it very often in my church… and I don’t know that all these verses appear in the version in the Presbyterian hymnal. I’ll have to investigate.
now these, these are some amazing lyrics. via magnolius:
My Brightest Diamond - I Have Never Loved Someone
My Brightest Diamond puts on an incredibly moving performance as part of La Blogotheque’s Take Away Show series.
“After the concert I finally dared to ask her what I wanted to ask her that morning, to sing us this lullaby that struck me down. It’s Sunday morning, a morning of hangovers. The whole hotel seems suspended in the air. We ask her to get to the bar, to make it sing for her, to sing for her son (for whom she had written this song). We erase ourselves. She, she doesn’t. After we’re done filming, I cry. She cries too.”
