We would like to look at [Tumblr’s current advertising] and understand how we could introduce ads, in a very light ad load, where the impact is really created, because the ads really fit the users’ expectations and follow the form and function of the dashboard.

THIS COMMERCIAL IS BEST

False: The one where the girl describes being a werewolf is the best. This is a close second.

agreed, werewolf girl wins everything.

(Guy Pumps Out A Valentine — Literally)
Here’s the story behind a Valentine from Payam Rajabi to his girlfriend, Clare. Rajabi, who moved to San Francisco and had to leave his girlfriend back in Toronto, decided to bike and track on a map a heart-shaped route around his new city. His Valentine went viral and then eventually, recreated for a commercial. Read the whole sweet story here.

Thanks a lot, dude.  That commercial has been overplayed during all my shows.

This ad played (in limited markets) last night during the Superbowl and someone at the party commented, “I wish people outside of Texas could see this.”

So here you go.

If users’ news feeds become a wasteland of Tide advertisements and posts about how many friends have “liked” Target, those users are increasingly unlikely to return. But if Facebook doesn’t let brands get their message out without throwing up ever-more toll booths, the brands might jump ship, too, making Facebook’s promoted-posts plan a total failure.

Is Facebook “broken on purpose” to sell promoted posts? | Ars Technica

A look at the new limitations that Facebook has put on brand pages, how they’re impacting traffic and what page managers should be watching as they post.

(via onaissues)

UGH it seems like each time I go to Facebook I have to change settings on a different friend so I don’t see their random comments and likes anymore.

Random things I memorized from 1990’s TV advertising

Hello, I’m Young MC with a story to tell
I just got a free cup from Taco Bell
And MTV makes the whole thing fun
Buy a giant cup of Pepsi and you’ll get one
three cups in all, so don’t stand still
And if you buy a (giant?) cup, you get a free refill…

I remember the words from this Taco Bell ad and have forgotten far more important things. Such is my memory.

It gave me goosebumps, so I’d say it does a good job.

NBC’s Comedy Lineup Returns! (by NBC)

See what I mean? What is going on over there?!

They didn’t even choose the funniest lines from existing shows. And all these new shows look awful if I judge them by this ad.

I won’t complain too much because at least Parks and Rec gets a soundbite.  I just wish it were funnier.
