I finished the book, y’all.

I’m so sad that there’s not more of Pictures at a Revolution to read! And so far it’s Mark Harris’ only book!

Oh well.  It was wonderful while it lasted.

Leslie Caron by David Hurn 1962

One of the many surprising things I’ve learned from Pictures at a Revolution is that Warren Beatty was having an affair with “older” actress Leslie Caron in the mid ’60s.  That seems a strange coupling to me.
Here’s a 2009 essay by Caron about her time with Beatty.

Morgan Fairchild (at 16) was Faye Dunaway’s driving double in “Bonnie and Clyde.”

I am learning so many important things from Pictures at a Revolution, I tell ya.

Currently immersed in this book about the making of the five 1967 Oscar nominees for Best Picture (In the Heat of the Night, Bonnie and Clyde, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Graduate and Dr. Doolittle) .  I didn’t expect it to be so engaging; Pictures at a Revolution is straight-up fascinating.
I love learning more about the personalities behind the films — even Dr. Doolittle!
