The only surprising thing about this is how many times the NY Times has let Alessandra Stanley’s inaccuracies slide by. I mean, seriously, I can’t read anything she writes.

Hey, Ladies! Check out the Crucial Benefits of...
newsweek: Yesterday’s ruling on the Affordable Care Act was a “supreme win for women,” as our story by Jessica Arons, the director of the Women’s Health and Rights Program at the Center for American Progress, helpfully explains. Here’s the deal: As of 2014, “gender rating”—where insurers can charge women higher premiums than men—becomes illegal in all new individual and small group plans. ...

I didn’t even realize my insurance carrier had this nifty timeline until today.  However, it doesn’t say if they’re one of the companies that will have to rebate money to customers in August. Hmm.

As I watch "Julie & Julia" again
…the more I wish it was just Julia and not Julie.  As much as I like Amy Adams, her character just grates on my nerves. I listened to the director’s commentary this evening in honor of Nora Ephron, but her commentary is actually pretty light.  I wish she had said more, really.

What Nora Ephron Taught Me About Love In The... →
npr: “Ephron wrote fairy tales that spun things that really happen – reconciliation over time, mysterious chemistry, complex and loaded friendships, love after grief and loss – into things that don’t happen, or don’t happen very much. But I always recognized in those stories pieces of people I knew and conversations I had had; they were like choral compositions where everything else is just...

A sign of things to come today?
As I stood waiting for the barista at a local bakery to make my chai latte, I overheard three old white men talking about politics, Obama and the Supreme Court.  One of these old men used to preach at the Southern Baptist church where I attended elementary and middle school. One of them today said, “Don’t they know what abortion is?” And I wanted to walk closer to them and yell...
